About the Role
Waymo is building the Waymo Driver to make autonomous driving safer and more trusted. As a Senior Systems Engineer focused on Hardware Architecture, you’ll help design and refine the hardware systems that serve as the eyes and ears of our autonomy stack—supporting our ride-hail service and future vehicle platforms.
Responsibilities
- Own system-level hardware architecture for complex sensing and compute platforms
- Partner with electrical, mechanical, reliability, software, and vehicle teams to define interfaces and requirements
- Drive design reviews, trade studies, and technical decisions across the hardware lifecycle
- Contribute to bringing hardware products from concept through validation and operational readiness
- Identify and mitigate risks related to performance, reliability, and integration
Requirements
- Experience in hardware systems engineering and architecture for complex technical products
- Strong understanding of hardware/software interfaces and system integration
- Proficiency with requirements, verification planning, and structured technical problem-solving
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams
