About the Role
Varda is building commercial space infrastructure to enable manufacturing in orbit, from in-orbit pharmaceutical processing to dependable reentry systems. We’re looking for a Software Automation and Controls Engineer to help design and implement automation and control solutions that support our in-house vehicles and payloads.
Responsibilities
- Develop software automation workflows and control logic using Python
- Integrate and configure PLC-based systems for reliable operation
- Collaborate with engineering teams to translate system requirements into robust control behavior
- Support testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automation and controls systems
- Document designs, interfaces, and operational procedures for maintainability
Requirements
- Experience building automation or industrial control software with Python
- Hands-on experience with PLCs and industrial control concepts
- Strong understanding of system behavior, fault handling, and test/validation practices
- Ability to work effectively across hardware and software stakeholders
