About the Role
Scout Motors is building the next chapter of iconic American vehicles—electrified, digitized, and powered by innovation. We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help lead the development of our Android platform, delivering a great experience for drivers and customers across the Scout ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale Android applications and services used across the product experience
- Lead technical direction for key features, partnering with product, design, and backend teams
- Drive best practices in architecture, performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Collaborate on end-to-end system integration, including data flows and device/vehicle interactions
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and engineering decision-making
Requirements
- Strong expertise in Android development (Kotlin/Java), with experience shipping production apps
- Proven ability to design scalable architectures and make sound engineering tradeoffs
- Experience with modern Android tooling, testing, and CI/CD practices
- Comfort working cross-functionally and communicating complex technical concepts clearly
- Track record of mentoring and raising engineering quality across a team
