About the Role
The House of the Good Shepherd (HGS) has supported youth and families for more than 150 years, providing compassionate care through education, residential, community, and foster care programs across Central New York, the Mohawk Valley, and the North Country. As a Teaching Assistant at Tilton School, you’ll help create a safe, well-organized learning environment where students can grow academically and personally.
Responsibilities
- Support the classroom teacher by assisting with daily instruction and learning activities
- Reinforce lesson plans and help students stay engaged with assigned work
- Assist with classroom management and routines to maintain a positive learning environment
- Support students as needed to promote academic progress and personal development
- Adapt and prepare instructional materials to meet student needs
Requirements
- Experience or training working with students in an educational setting
- Ability to follow direction and support instruction under teacher supervision
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safety, compassion, and student-centered care
