About the Role
The Peterborough Examiner is seeking a one-year reporter journalism intern to join our digital-first newsroom. This 12-month temporary, full-time opportunity is built to help you grow your reporting skills while producing real stories for our community.
This is a hybrid position with time working from home and in the community. You’ll be expected to live in or near the area so you can travel to assignments, attend events, and cover breaking news.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with editors and full-time staff to create original, accurate, community-focused journalism.
- Cover events and breaking news by attending in person and conducting on-the-ground interviews.
- Use training resources to strengthen reporting and research skills in a supportive newsroom environment.
- Join both virtual and in-person team meetings to stay aligned with editorial priorities.
Requirements
- Strong interest in journalism and a commitment to producing trustworthy, high-quality reporting.
- Ability to travel locally for assignments and interviews.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced newsroom environment with guidance from editors.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
