About the Role
Join a respected design practice as an Urban Designer/Planner focused on creating walkable neighborhoods, vibrant town centers, and mixed-use environments. In this on-site role in Washington, DC, you’ll help turn ambitious development visions into memorable places through thoughtful planning, strong visual communication, and hands-on problem solving.
Responsibilities
- Develop master plans and site frameworks for walkable districts, neighborhood centers, and mixed-use destinations from early concept through client presentation.
- Translate design ideas into clear planning and urban design proposals for multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Support project teams with concept development, visual materials, and iterative design refinements.
- Collaborate closely across disciplines to align planning strategy with design goals and site realities.
Requirements
- Experience with urban design and/or planning work, including concept-to-presentation development.
- Strong visual communication skills (e.g., diagramming, presentation graphics, and clear design storytelling).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a studio environment and contribute to iterative design processes.
- Comfort working across master planning, site framework thinking, and mixed-use planning contexts.
