About the Role
The Bay Pines VA Healthcare System is seeking an Assistant Chief of Health Information Management (HIMS) within the Health Information Management (HIM) Section of the Business Office. In this role, you will support the Chief HIM (CHIM) by helping establish health information management policies, responsibilities, and requirements that ensure accurate, compliant, and well-managed health records and health information services.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief HIM in developing and implementing HIM policies related to health record documentation and health information services.
- Support oversight of health record program management, including coordination of work related to diagnostic and therapeutic health records.
- Provide leadership in managing, analyzing, and supervising the use of health information to support organizational needs.
- Help ensure HIM operations align with VA requirements and facility expectations for health information management.
- Contribute to service delivery by supporting HIM processes across applicable facility categories and complexity levels.
Requirements
- Experience supporting health information management and medical records administration functions.
- Knowledge of health record documentation and health information services.
- Ability to manage, analyze, and supervise HIM-related workflows and information use.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills to support HIM policy and operational requirements.
