About the Role
The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT), Division of Bridges, manages the full life cycle of more than 800 bridges and tunnels and over 600 retaining walls. In this Assistant Civil Engineer role within the QA/Environmental Engineering Unit, you will serve as an Assistant Civil Engineer/Project Manager supporting bridge coating, painting, corrosion control, environmental compliance, and quality assurance activities for NYCDOT bridge projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversee contractor performance and coordinate QA and environmental engineering activities for bridge projects
- Manage and monitor bridge coating, painting, and corrosion control efforts
- Support environmental compliance for project work and related documentation
- Perform engineering reviews, quality assurance tasks, and verification activities
- Assist with project management duties to support successful delivery of bridge initiatives
Requirements
- Must be serving permanently in the title, or be reachable on the open-competitive list (Exam #7006)
- Experience or demonstrated capability in civil engineering quality assurance and/or environmental compliance activities
- Ability to manage project-related contractor coordination and engineering review work
