About the Role
Join the Public Works Directorate of NAVFAC Engineering Command Mid-Atlantic as a Carpenter. You’ll produce and install high-quality woodwork with precise measurements, clean finishes, and reliable fit for a variety of interior and exterior needs.
Responsibilities
- Mill heavy lumber and perform cuts for bevels, rabbets, chamfers, grooves, and compound miter joints
- Apply plastic laminates to wood and other surfaces, including countertops and tabletops
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications independently
- Repair common metal office furniture and equipment such as desks, chairs, and filing cabinets
- Work with hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, veneers, and wood substitutes, including gluing and bonding materials
- Install door and window sashes and apply caulking, compound, or filler materials to ensure tight seals
- Disassemble, replace, or remove worn components as needed for repairs and maintenance
Requirements
- Hands-on carpentry experience working with a variety of wood materials and laminates
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Skill in measuring, cutting, and assembling components with accurate dimensions
- Familiarity with repair and maintenance of furniture or similar equipment
- Comfort working onsite in a public works environment
