About the Role
Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) builds and delivers the cloud infrastructure that powers Microsoft’s online services. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization oversees large-scale, multi-year data center construction and related lease projects. The CO&I Commissioning team is focused on managing the end-to-end delivery of new data center capacity by coordinating program execution across aligned project teams.
As a Commissioning Manager, you will help drive commissioning strategy and execution for complex data center projects, ensuring teams deliver the required readiness and performance outcomes on time and to specification.
Responsibilities
- Own commissioning delivery planning and execution for data center construction programs, coordinating across stakeholders and project teams.
- Manage workflows across vertically and horizontally aligned project managers and virtual teams to support multi-year delivery.
- Develop and improve commissioning processes, tools, and program management practices to increase consistency and effectiveness.
- Track progress, risks, and dependencies for commissioning activities and escalate issues as needed.
- Partner with engineering, construction, and operations teams to align commissioning scope with project requirements.
- Support documentation, verification activities, and readiness criteria to confirm systems meet performance expectations.
Requirements
- Experience leading commissioning activities for mission-critical facilities such as data centers, mission-critical buildings, or similar infrastructure.
- Strong program management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams across teams.
- Knowledge of commissioning processes, testing/verification concepts, and readiness criteria.
- Ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects with attention to schedule, quality, and risk.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in cross-functional, virtual team environments.
