About the Role

SpaceX’s Bastrop Environmental Health & Safety team is looking for an Equipment Safety Engineer to help ensure automated machinery and equipment are designed, deployed, and maintained with strong safety and compliance practices. You’ll support multiple production projects by translating safety standards into practical engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead equipment safety activities for automated machinery across production projects
  • Perform hazard identification and risk assessments to drive effective mitigation strategies
  • Interpret and apply relevant machine safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Develop, review, and implement safety documentation and safety program elements
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to ensure safe design decisions and effective execution
  • Support continuous improvement of safety processes and best practices

Requirements

  • Experience with machine safety design, risk assessment, and hazard mitigation
  • Strong knowledge of equipment/machine safety standards and how to apply them to real systems
  • Proven ability to collaborate across mechanical, manufacturing, and EHS stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with a proactive safety mindset
