About the Role
Helion is building fusion power to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable electricity. Based in Everett, WA, we’re seeking a Nuclear Engineering Manager to lead technical execution, drive rigorous problem-solving, and help advance our path from prototype to the world’s first fusion power plant.
Responsibilities
- Lead nuclear engineering efforts across product and prototype development, turning technical goals into clear plans and deliverables.
- Manage and mentor engineering team members while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and technical rigor.
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners to evaluate design tradeoffs and resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Communicate progress, risks, and hard truths clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
- Support documentation and technical reviews to ensure work is traceable, auditable, and decision-ready.
Requirements
- Experience in nuclear engineering with a strong understanding of radiation, shielding, and/or related nuclear systems.
- Proven leadership experience managing projects and/or technical teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through ambiguous, real-world constraints.
- Excellent communication skills for technical collaboration and stakeholder updates.
- Commitment to safety, rigor, and continuous improvement.
