About the Role
New England Donor Services is hiring an experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse, or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist to serve as an Organ Donation Coordinator. In this role, you will respond on-site to organ donor referrals and provide clinical expertise across donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation, and organ recovery.
We are currently interviewing for our next New Hire Donation Academy Orientation class, scheduled for September 2026. This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week on nights in a hybrid work arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Respond on-site to donor referrals and support clinical donor evaluation and management
- Educate hospital staff on the organ donation process
- Work with donor families to obtain consent for donation with empathy and professionalism
- Coordinate with surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation
- Apply strong clinical assessment skills while remaining flexible and composed in time-sensitive situations
Requirements
- Current ICU experience as an RN (ICU/Critical Care/Trauma) or experience as a Critical Care Respiratory Therapist
- Strong clinical assessment and judgment skills
- Ability to communicate clearly with healthcare teams and families
- Comfort working nights and on-site as needed for referrals
- Professional, calm, and adaptable approach in high-stress environments
