About the Role
Disc Medicine is seeking a highly detail-oriented Principal Scientist to join our Innovation team in a hybrid role. You’ll help advance protein production and engineering efforts that support our mission to develop novel therapies for serious hematologic diseases.
This position offers flexibility to work remotely while also collaborating in person at our headquarters in Watertown, MA.
Responsibilities
- Drive protein production and engineering strategies to support research and development goals
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments to optimize protein expression, yield, and quality
- Apply protein biochemistry principles to evaluate structure, function, and performance
- Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists and engineering partners to translate findings into actionable next steps
- Maintain detailed documentation of experimental results and contribute to scientific reporting
Requirements
- Strong background in protein biochemistry and protein production
- Experience with protein engineering and/or process optimization
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute experimental work with strong attention to detail
- Solid scientific communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, innovation-focused environment
