About the Role
Join the Microsoft AI Web Data Platform team as a Principal Software Engineer to lead the architecture and delivery of internet-scale web document platforms. You’ll help enable AI grounding for 1st-party Copilots and third-party AI solutions, bringing additional richness to support modern LLM experiences.
This role focuses on large-scale data and AI platform engineering that powers Bing Search, AI grounding, and Microsoft AI training. You’ll work on systems that process tens of billions of documents per day and manage hundreds of petabytes of data at massive user scale.
Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve platform capabilities for ingesting, processing, and serving web-scale document data
- Provide technical leadership across design, implementation, and delivery of large-scale systems
- Drive improvements that increase document richness for AI grounding and training workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver platform features used by multiple AI scenarios
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance for high-throughput data pipelines
Requirements
- Strong experience in software engineering at scale, including platform or infrastructure development
- Proven expertise with large-scale data platforms and distributed systems
- Demonstrated ability to apply AI/ML concepts to data processing, grounding, or training pipelines
- Experience leading technical direction and mentoring engineers through complex system design
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, mission-critical environment
