About the Role
Join our Web Data Platform team as a Principal Software Engineering Manager. You will help shape and build web-scale platforms and state-of-the-art models that enable semantic understanding of multi-modal documents.
In an AI-driven world, we’re focused on elevating our platform so it becomes a foundational building block for AI solutions across the industry. Our systems process tens of billions of documents daily and support core experiences for Bing Search, AI grounding, and Microsoft AI training scenarios used by 1B+ users.
Responsibilities
- Lead the vision and execution for large-scale web data platforms and model-driven semantic processing
- Manage and mentor engineering teams, driving high-quality delivery and technical excellence
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define architecture, roadmap, and measurable outcomes
- Improve platform performance, reliability, and scalability for high-throughput document processing
- Use data-driven approaches to guide engineering decisions and reduce operational risk
Requirements
- Proven experience leading software engineering teams as a people manager
- Strong technical background in distributed systems and large-scale platform development
- Experience with modern machine learning and/or model-serving concepts (semantic understanding, multi-modal inputs)
- Track record of building and operating systems at significant web scale
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to drive alignment across teams
