About the Role
AtriCure is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to help design, develop, and validate complex systems that support our medical technology for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (Afib). You’ll work with cross-functional teams to ensure our products meet performance, reliability, and regulatory expectations.
Responsibilities
- Lead systems engineering activities across requirements, architecture, verification planning, and validation support
- Translate clinical and engineering needs into clear system requirements and design constraints
- Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including traceability from requirements through test results
- Partner with software, electrical, mechanical, and quality teams to drive cohesive system solutions
- Support risk management activities and contribute to system safety and effectiveness considerations
- Drive problem resolution through root-cause analysis and corrective action support
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering for complex technical products
- Strong understanding of requirements management and verification/validation methodologies
- Experience working within regulated environments (e.g., medical device, aerospace, or similar)
- Proficiency with system modeling, documentation, and traceability practices
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead technical collaboration across teams
