About the Role
Challenge Preparatory Charter School is seeking a Grade 6 Social Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. Our mission is to help scholars from the greater Far Rockaway community build strong academic foundations, demonstrate mastery of New York State Learning Standards, and pursue their future career goals. You will help create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students grow academically and as responsible 21st century citizens.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned Social Studies instruction for Grade 6 students
- Use data to inform instruction and monitor student progress
- Support students’ social-emotional learning through positive classroom practices
- Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum and instructional approaches
- Provide authentic learning experiences that deepen understanding of course content
Requirements
- Experience teaching Social Studies or related content at the middle school level
- Strong understanding of New York State Learning Standards
- Ability to create a supportive, structured classroom culture
- Commitment to student growth—academically, socially, and emotionally
