About the Role
Scout Motors is seeking a Senior Counsel to help shape and support our privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance programs. In this role, you’ll advise cross-functional teams on legal requirements and practical risk management as we build connected, electrified vehicle experiences and deploy responsible AI.
Responsibilities
- Advise on privacy and data protection compliance, including policy and program development
- Support cybersecurity governance efforts and risk-based legal guidance
- Guide AI governance initiatives, including responsible use, documentation, and vendor/partner considerations
- Partner with product, engineering, security, and operations teams to review initiatives and contracts
- Assess regulatory and contractual obligations and recommend mitigation strategies
- Help develop playbooks, templates, and training to improve consistency across the organization
Requirements
- J.D. and active attorney licensure in the United States
- Experience advising on privacy and data protection matters (e.g., state and federal requirements)
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity and related legal/compliance considerations
- Experience with AI governance, responsible AI, and/or technology risk frameworks
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate legal concepts for technical and business stakeholders
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast-moving environment
