About the Role

Lightmatter is building the next era of AI data center infrastructure, and we’re seeking a Senior Firmware Development & Test Automation Engineer to help develop and validate firmware for advanced photonic AI processors. You’ll work at the intersection of low-level firmware and automated testing to ensure reliable performance at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain firmware test automation to improve coverage and repeatability
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define test strategies, acceptance criteria, and validation plans
  • Build and debug test harnesses and tools used to verify firmware behavior
  • Analyze test results, triage issues, and drive fixes through to resolution
  • Continuously improve test workflows to reduce time-to-feedback and increase reliability

Requirements

  • Experience developing and testing firmware in embedded systems
  • Strong background in test automation (e.g., scripting and automated frameworks)
  • Proficiency with debugging and troubleshooting complex hardware/software interactions
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving engineering environment with cross-functional partners
  • Ability to translate requirements into effective test cases and validation approaches
