Senior Scientific Software Developer (Bioimage Informatics) | Hybrid

About the Role

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is seeking a Senior Scientific Software Developer to help build the software platforms, applications, and data systems that power bioimage informatics. This is a hands-on, full-stack engineering position where your work will directly support pediatric cancer and catastrophic-disease research.

You’ll partner with the High Performance Research Computing (HPRC) and Center for Bioimage Informatics (CBI) teams to translate cutting-edge image analysis methods into reliable, scalable software used by researchers across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software components for bioimage informatics workflows
  • Collaborate with image data scientists, AI/ML researchers, and biologists to implement analysis and quantification tools
  • Build robust, well-tested application and data systems that support image generation, management, and analysis
  • Improve performance and reliability of scientific software used in research pipelines
  • Lead engineering practices that enhance maintainability, scalability, and code quality

Requirements

  • Proven experience building production-grade software systems in a full-stack or scientific computing context
  • Strong programming skills and the ability to deliver well-tested, maintainable code
  • Experience working with data-intensive applications and computational workflows
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across research and engineering teams
