About the Role
Scout Motors is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to help build and evolve our Android application platform and the frameworks that power it. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality mobile experiences that support our customers—whether they’re on the road, at the job site, or planning their next adventure.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Android application components and shared frameworks used across products
- Drive improvements to architecture, performance, reliability, and developer experience
- Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to deliver features end-to-end
- Establish and evolve engineering best practices, including testing strategy and code quality standards
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on complex mobile challenges
- Identify risks and proactively resolve issues across the mobile stack
Requirements
- Strong experience building Android applications and/or framework-level components
- Proficiency with Kotlin and modern Android development practices
- Deep understanding of Android architecture, performance optimization, and UI frameworks
- Experience with testing (unit/integration/UI) and maintaining quality at scale
- Comfort working in collaborative environments and communicating technical tradeoffs
- Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering production-grade software
