About the Role
Microsoft’s Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team builds the foundational technologies behind the company’s Intelligent Cloud mission. Within SCHIE, the Compute Silicon & Manufacturing Engineering (CSME) organization drives chip design, development, manufacturing, and packaging—supporting the global infrastructure that powers services like Azure and more.
As a Senior Test Engineer, you’ll help ensure newly built and manufactured hardware meets performance, reliability, and quality expectations through robust testing and validation practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and improve hardware test strategies for silicon and platform components
- Create and maintain automated test workflows to validate functionality, performance, and reliability
- Analyze test results, troubleshoot failures, and drive root-cause investigations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across design, manufacturing, and engineering to improve yields
- Document test methods, procedures, and outcomes to support quality and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Experience in hardware or silicon testing, validation, or manufacturing test engineering
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data
- Proficiency with test automation frameworks and scripting (as applicable to your environment)
- Experience working with engineering teams in a fast-paced, quality-focused setting
- Clear communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration
