About the Role
MatX is building silicon and systems that help advanced AI models run efficiently and reliably. As a System Software Engineer on our Host System Software team, you’ll help deliver performant, functionally accurate platform software—from Linux kernel components to device drivers and system management integration.
You’ll work closely with hardware and firmware partners to ensure host software and out-of-band management are designed together for a cohesive user and operational experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Linux kernel drivers and related system software components
- Contribute to device bring-up and performance tuning across compute, memory management, and high-speed connectivity features
- Collaborate with firmware and platform teams to align host-side behavior with BMC/OpenBMC capabilities
- Own debugging, validation, and functional/performance verification for silicon and system features
- Work with node and cluster management tooling to ensure smooth deployment and operation
Requirements
- Strong experience with Linux kernel development and device driver implementation
- Proficiency in C/C++ and a solid understanding of low-level systems programming
- Hands-on experience with hardware/software integration, bring-up, and troubleshooting
- Comfort working across the software stack, including system interfaces and performance analysis
- Ability to collaborate effectively with firmware and hardware engineering teams
