About the Role
Samaritan Daytop Village is a trusted human services organization in New York State, supporting more than 38,000 individuals each year across 60+ locations. We provide transitional housing, community-based services, and residential and outpatient programs.
As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC), you’ll help clients identify strengths, build job readiness, and move toward meaningful employment. You’ll provide one-on-one and group counseling, support career planning, and connect individuals with community resources. You’ll also collaborate with state job liaisons and local employers to expand employment opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group vocational counseling to support career planning and employment readiness
- Assess client needs, goals, and barriers to employment
- Develop and support job readiness plans, including skill-building and actionable next steps
- Coordinate referrals and link clients to community resources and supportive services
- Partner with state job liaisons and local businesses to promote employment pathways
- Maintain documentation and case records in accordance with program requirements
Requirements
- Master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling, social work, mental health counseling, or a related human services field
- Credential(s) such as CRC, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or an equivalent professional license/certification
- Experience working with diverse populations and supporting employment-focused goals
- Strong communication, counseling, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with community partners and employers
