About the Role
Chicago Public Media, a nonprofit newsroom serving millions across broadcast, print, and digital, is seeking an AM Editor to shape and strengthen morning news coverage. You’ll help ensure our reporting is clear, accurate, and aligned with our mission to be the most trusted news source for Chicagoans.
Responsibilities
- Edit and refine morning news content for accuracy, clarity, tone, and pacing
- Collaborate with reporters, producers, and other newsroom teams to develop daily story selections
- Oversee news copy from draft through final review, ensuring strong editorial standards
- Coordinate updates as breaking developments occur during the AM cycle
- Maintain consistency across platforms while supporting a strong audience experience
Requirements
- Proven editing experience in a news or editorial environment
- Strong command of grammar, style, and editorial judgment
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Commitment to accuracy, fairness, and responsible journalism
