About the Role

Join the Department of Energy (DOE), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) Human Resources Service Center as a Benefits Specialist within Benefits & HR Processing. You’ll help federal employees make informed choices about retirement, health insurance, and savings plans by translating complex policy into clear guidance.

You’ll serve as a trusted advisor, providing one-on-one counseling and supporting day-to-day benefits processing to ensure employees are well supported and able to focus on their mission-critical work.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret federal benefits policies and plan provisions for employees and applicants
  • Provide individualized counseling on retirement, insurance, and savings options
  • Guide employees through key enrollment and life-event decisions
  • Process and support benefits-related HR transactions in line with program requirements
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely, customer-focused service
  • Partner with HR teams to support benefits program administration

Requirements

  • Experience working with benefits administration and/or HR processing
  • Strong knowledge of retirement and insurance plan concepts (federal experience preferred)
  • Ability to interpret policy and explain details clearly to non-experts
  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and compliance
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
