About the Role
Reframe Systems is seeking a DFMA Engineer to help us design building components and assemblies that are faster to produce, easier to assemble, and more consistent in quality. You’ll work within a cross-disciplinary team to support our vertically integrated microfactories and enable climate-resilient, site-responsive housing at scale.
Responsibilities
- Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve manufacturability, assembly flow, and overall build efficiency
- Partner with design engineering, factory operations, and delivery teams to translate requirements into production-ready designs
- Evaluate design alternatives for cost, cycle time, quality, and labor impact
- Support creation and refinement of manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and assembly guidance
- Identify risks and opportunities in product design that affect throughput, yield, and repeatability
- Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives across the microfactory and field delivery processes
Requirements
- Experience applying DFMA (or equivalent DFM/DFA) in product or construction-related engineering
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and tolerance/fit considerations
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, and delivery)
- Proficiency with engineering documentation and design review processes
- Comfort analyzing tradeoffs across cost, quality, manufacturability, and schedule
Benefits
- Opportunity to contribute to high-impact, sustainable housing innovation
- Work with a team spanning architecture, robotics, design engineering, software, and operations
- Collaborate on projects built for speed, predictability, and scalability through microfactory production
