About the Role
Scout Motors is building the next generation of rugged, all-electric and range-extended vehicles. We’re seeking an experienced OBD Lead Engineer to help design and deliver robust On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) capabilities using UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services). This role supports our mission to electrify and modernize an iconic American brand with reliable, customer-ready vehicle software.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical execution of OBD features implemented over UDS, ensuring correct behavior across supported vehicle states.
- Define and refine diagnostic service requirements, parameters, and firmware/software interfaces.
- Collaborate with system, software, validation, and calibration teams to ensure diagnostics meet functional and regulatory expectations.
- Drive root-cause analysis and issue resolution for diagnostic faults, DTCs, and related behaviors.
- Support verification planning and review results to confirm diagnostic coverage and performance.
Requirements
- Strong experience with OBD/diagnostics concepts and implementation practices in automotive systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of UDS (e.g., diagnostic sessions, routines, DTC management, and diagnostic trouble code handling).
- Experience working with embedded software, diagnostic communication stacks, and vehicle software integration.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, document requirements, and coordinate across cross-functional teams.
