About the Role
Scout Motors is looking for an OBD Requirements Engineer to lead development of requirements for a Generic Scan Tool. You’ll help ensure our diagnostic and emissions-related capabilities meet technical needs and project goals as we build next-generation electrified powertrains.
Responsibilities
- Own and lead OBD requirements definition for a Generic Scan Tool.
- Translate system needs into clear, testable requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with software, controls, diagnostics, and validation teams to align on scope and interfaces.
- Support verification planning by ensuring requirements are measurable and traceable.
- Coordinate updates as technical assumptions, regulations, and project priorities evolve.
Requirements
- Experience working with OBD/diagnostics requirements in automotive software or systems engineering.
- Strong ability to write and manage testable requirements and requirement traceability.
- Familiarity with diagnostic concepts (e.g., DTCs, monitoring, readiness, or related OBD fundamentals).
- Effective cross-functional communication skills with technical stakeholders.
- Experience with engineering documentation and tools used for requirements management.
