About the Role
Microsoft Silicon and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) builds the infrastructure and foundational technologies that power Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud mission. In this role, you’ll help deliver server and data center capabilities that support hundreds of online services worldwide, with a strong focus on trusted experiences, high efficiency, and scalable hardware deployment.
You will be part of the Firmware Center of Excellence (FW CoE), working on firmware that enables cloud hardware to ship on time, at high volume, with top quality and low cost.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive firmware architecture and design for cloud hardware platforms
- Partner with hardware, systems, and software teams to deliver end-to-end platform readiness
- Develop and improve firmware features that support reliability, security, and manageability
- Lead debugging and root-cause analysis for complex firmware issues
- Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices within the FW CoE
Requirements
- Deep experience in firmware development for embedded or server-class platforms
- Strong proficiency in low-level programming (e.g., C/C++) and hardware/software integration
- Experience with debugging tools and methodologies for performance and stability validation
- Knowledge of secure boot, firmware integrity, and security-focused development practices
- Track record of delivering firmware at scale in production environments
