About the Role
Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System (ELMHS) is seeking a Residential Services Specialist 1 (WAE) to support residents in their daily routines and help build the skills needed for a successful transition back to the community. This role is part of the Community Group Homes Department and supports adults receiving mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and related services.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with day-to-day living activities and structured routines
- Support skill development to promote independence and community reintegration
- Use effective communication to reinforce learned coping and life skills
- Coordinate with program staff to help residents meet individual goals
- Maintain a safe, respectful environment aligned with program expectations
Requirements
- Experience working with adults in a residential or human services setting (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to support residents with consistency, patience, and professionalism
- Commitment to safety, confidentiality, and person-centered care
