About the Role
Microsoft is seeking a Senior Data & Applied Scientist to help teams make stronger product and business decisions. In this hands-on position, you’ll combine rigorous experimentation, sound statistical thinking, and practical AI techniques to support day-to-day analytical work at scale.
This is a decision-making role—not a reporting-only position. You’ll challenge assumptions, improve experimentation practices, and build AI-enabled workflows that influence real outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Design and run experiments to evaluate product and business changes
- Apply statistical methods to interpret results and guide decision-making
- Develop and operationalize AI/ML approaches that support analytical workflows
- Partner with product and engineering teams to translate hypotheses into measurable tests
- Communicate findings clearly and help teams understand tradeoffs and uncertainty
Requirements
- Proven experience in data science and applied experimentation (A/B testing or similar)
- Strong statistical fundamentals for analysis and inference
- Hands-on experience applying AI/ML in practical, production-oriented contexts
- Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and question assumptions
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product and engineering stakeholders
