About the Role
Waters Construction is hiring a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team in Bridgeport, CT. This is a growth-focused opportunity—our goal is to backfill a long-tenured estimator and support the right candidate in training toward a future Chief Estimator role.
You’ll be responsible for pricing heavy civil work and ensuring our bids are backed by a clear understanding of how projects will be built, scheduled, and managed from pre-award through baseline planning after award.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review estimates for heavy civil scopes including roadwork, sitework, paving, drainage, utilities, earthwork, and concrete
- Build and maintain pre-award pricing models and Primavera schedules to support bid strategy
- Develop baseline schedules after award and support planning alignment across project teams
- Identify, evaluate, and communicate bid risks clearly before bid day
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure assumptions, quantities, and scope interpretations are accurate
Requirements
- Proven estimating experience in heavy civil construction (road, site, utilities, earthwork, concrete, and related scopes)
- Ability to understand construction methods and translate them into realistic pricing and schedule impacts
- Experience creating Primavera pre-award and baseline schedules
- Strong communication skills to present risks and bid considerations to leadership
- Comfort stepping into a leadership development path toward a Chief Estimator position
