About the Role
Scout Motors is building the next chapter of iconic American rugged vehicles—bringing heritage, innovation, and electrification together. We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help design and deliver high-quality Android experiences that power our connected vehicle features.
Responsibilities
- Lead Android application architecture and drive technical direction across complex features.
- Partner with product, design, and backend teams to deliver reliable, user-focused functionality.
- Write clean, maintainable code and set engineering standards for performance, quality, and stability.
- Collaborate on system integration across services, APIs, and device capabilities.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and best-practice adoption.
Requirements
- Strong experience building native Android applications (Kotlin/Java) in production environments.
- Expertise with Android architecture patterns, concurrency, networking, and performance optimization.
- Experience with testing practices (unit/integration/UI) and building for reliability.
- Comfort working in cross-functional teams and communicating tradeoffs effectively.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives end-to-end, from design through delivery.
