About the Role
Join the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as an Academic Advisor I. You’ll help students plan their academic pathways—from understanding degree requirements and selecting courses to exploring majors, careers, and progress toward graduation.
You’ll support student success by identifying barriers, building educational plans, and connecting students with the right campus resources. You’ll also help strengthen retention and persistence by partnering with faculty, staff, and university offices on initiatives that improve timely graduation and career readiness.
Responsibilities
- Advise students on degree planning, course selection, and academic requirements
- Assist students with major and career exploration to support informed decision-making
- Develop and update educational plans aligned to graduation goals
- Identify academic or personal barriers and connect students to appropriate support services
- Support student engagement through orientation, recruitment, outreach, workshops, and events
- Collaborate with faculty and campus offices to promote retention, persistence, and student success
Requirements
- Experience advising or counseling students in an academic setting (or related experience)
- Strong knowledge of academic planning and degree requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport with diverse student populations
- Comfort coordinating with campus partners and supporting student programming
