About the Role

Samaritan Daytop Village is a human services organization serving more than 38,000 New Yorkers each year through transitional housing, community-based programs, and residential and outpatient services. As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC), you’ll help clients identify their strengths, improve job readiness, and move toward meaningful employment.

In this role, you’ll provide both individual and group counseling focused on career planning, goal setting, and skill development. You’ll also connect clients with community resources and collaborate with state job liaison partners and local employers to expand employment opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver vocational rehabilitation counseling through one-on-one and group sessions
  • Support clients with career planning, job readiness activities, and employment goal development
  • Assess client needs and coordinate referrals to relevant community services
  • Partner with state job liaisons and local businesses to strengthen employment pathways
  • Provide ongoing support to help clients progress toward sustainable work outcomes

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation counseling, social work, mental health counseling, or a related human services field
  • Credential required: CRC and/or LMSW, LCSW, LMHC (as applicable)
  • Experience working with diverse populations and supporting employment-focused outcomes
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients and partner organizations
